I'm passionate about generating and connecting voluntary effort to make life better for all us, especially for our children. We need to make sure that all our children grow up equipped to maintain a society that is tolerable for all; that they are able to negotiate change in society in ways that transform rather than rip its fabric. To do this we need to model these ways of working for them and give them opportunities to practice them too. I'm interested in ways in which we can increase the total sum of voluntary effort for enriching our communities - and include and value the voluntary effort of children and young people - in ways that go beyond 20th century concepts of volunteering. Much of my work over the last decade has been concerned with the long-run view. What we invest and shape in society now determines its richness in the next two generations.

Globally and locally we face challenges that will need creativity, compromise and courage as well as collaboration across existing boundaries if we are to respond successfully. I care about building our collective capacity for these behaviours, in business, in our communities, in our governance. I'm also a mother to two wonderful sons and I want to make sure there is a thriving, vibrant, sustainable world for them to be part of.
