Senior Lecturer and Director of Teaching and Learning at UTS School of Design. Visual Comm. Designer in London for 15 years before emigrating to Australia. I was recently invited to Parsons New School for Design in NY to do a week of seminars for staff on teaching and learning. It reminded me that there are many students working on 'cool' projects 'dreamed up' by academics all over the world when real and important problems don't get the design attention they deserve.
