Day 1 morning wrap - Ozsicamp

I'm sitting in the middle of a cluster of engine rooms at the ASIX Social Innovation camps - four different conversations filter through open doors in bursts of energy, with the sound of tapping keyboards a consistent underscore. Through the glazed walls of the meeting rooms I see whiteboards covered in scribbles and colourful post-it notes, chairs haphazardly arranged around working tables, and laptops of different makes and models facing off against each other as their owners get busy with wireframes, graphics and interfaces. In the background, projector screens are illuminated with a constant Twitter stream sharing online #ozsicamp conversations. In short, the energy is amazing. 8 groups are working away solidly in their quarters of UNSW's city campus, aiming to develop their social innovation idea to reality by lunch time tomorrow. The diversity of each group in terms of process, idea, and objective is visible and makes for the rich tapestry that is the camp. What is shared is a dedication to producing an outcome from the weekend that is ready to be tested on its audience and build the culture of Australian social innovation. The only question is...will they stop for lunch?!

Re: Day 1 morning wrap - Ozsicamp

A very promising beginning...energy, commitment, plenty of coffee and Red Bull and a bunch of people who are busy giving full expression to the powerful insight that a few good people, collaborating with purpose and passion, are perfectly capable of changing the world, one great idea at a time. And when you're on a roll, who needs lunch anyway?
