We were very sad to hear of the sudden death last week in London of Diogo Vasconcelos, the Chair of the Social Innovation Exchange and one of the champions of social innovation in the UK, Europe and around the world.

Diogo was instrumental, along with Geoff Mulgan and The Young Foundation, in setting up SIX and was one of the most inspiring, energetic and capable advocates for social innovation, and its rising influence in policy and innovation, anywhere in the world.  He was a tireless and generous supporter not only of the Australian Social Innovation Exchange, but also of efforts in all parts of the world – Europe, Africa, South America, Australia, the Middle East – to showcase the value and impact of social innovation.

His death will be deeply mourned by so many people around the world and his energy, creativity and sheer joy and enthusiasm will be sorely missed.  We owe him a huge debt of gratitude, which perhaps we can best repay by extending and growing the work with which he has been so closely associated.
